Resurrection

The name of this photo is: Resurrection.

Look at the telephone poles and they look like crosses that were used to crucify people (Jesus) in Roman times.

You have to be crazy to photograph lightening!

Crazy; pure crazy that's me.

It's a rush and a challenge that fills every cell in my photographic-artisitc fiber.

Don't do this without knowing that Mother Nature is very unforgiving when you get to close to or cross her line.

It was taken just north of Denver City, Texas. It's an oil town with tons and I do mean tons of metal. So lightening walks around there with ease.

Two Outstanding Entertainers

I've been fortunate to photograph George Strait twice. This one was taken at a concert at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Here I was with a press pass and could only shoot the first two songs. Ushered in, told where to stand, when to leave and ushered out.

Funny things: Anyone who had tickets could walk up, stand where they wanted, take as many pictures as they wanted and I had two songs.

On top of that my wife, Judy and granddaughter Sydney, had tickets. Well, I figured if I'm going to be photographing him, I won't need a ticket. Wrong!

After the two songs I listened from the foyer and waited for the "two hour" concert to be over.

They loved the whole thing.

Still It was a great experience.

Second time was for when he was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas.

He didn't sing, but I go stay for the whole thing, including supper.

He's Number One no matter how you count. I love his music. respect him, admire him and one of these days...who knows might get to say Hello, my name is John Madden.

John Denver was an Air Force Brat, like me. He went to Texas Tech, like a lot of my family and money. He's always been and always will be one of favorite entertainers.

I was an artist at Michael Martins Westfest at Copper Mountain, Colorado and had a press/backstage pass. All of a sudden there he was. I was so taken back I forgot to raise my camera and capture the moment for several minutes.

He stood there talking to some of his people and I could have reached out and touched him.

As he always said...FAR OUT!

His memory and music live forever.

This fan, me, enjoyed/enjoys every song, movie, TV show and what he stood for.

Sunset on 18th hole

Late in the day, 18th hole at the Comanche Trail Golf Course, Amarillo, Texas.

Night was upon us, but this sunset was more important at the moment.

Howdy and Welcome

Welcome to my photography blog.

What is a photography blog?

It's a sharing of the gift God has given me to see things differently than most others. Why do I say "see things differently than most?"

If I had a dollar for every time I was out and about with my camera, saw something and started taking pictures and people drive by looking to see what I'm looking at, or stopping by, looking in the direction I'm photographing and then asking "What are you looking at?" I have a lot more money to buy more cameras.

My friend, DeWitt Jones, says "God puts up a banquet everyday, it up to us to see it."

My friend, Steve Douglas, captures weather like no one I know. He sees storms like not one else. He's also a gifted teacher and outstanding photographer. I have learned from him too.

Both DeWitt and Steve are exceptional photographers so our bound of sharing "Mother Nature" and all of God's bounty lead me
to wanting to create a photography blog. That plus Steve knew how and did it for me.

Anyway, I love sharing my photography with others. Nothing revs me up like talking photography, sharing ideas, techniques, and the love of photography with anyone and everyone.

Hence, as the sports company Nike says....JUST DO!

So I am!

Hope you enjoy and maybe the photography bug will light up your life.

Enjoy....
